Earl
Winner
of our Top 5 Poets of
August 2004 Online
Competition
I've
lived in Suffolk all my
life. I'm 18 years old and
have been writing poems
for many years. Writing
poems is like an escape. I
just put pen to paper and
I let the ink make its
mark. In poems it feels
like it's easier to make
myself heard.
It
feels like if I were to
keep writing I would leave
my mark on the world,
would have tried to
connect, tried to explain,
to make people understand
and be proud of it.
I've
never actually won a
competition for any of my
poems and I was really
surprised to win this one.
I'm very proud to have my
poems on the same website
as everyone else who has
won a competition with
Forward Press because
they're all brilliant.
Smile
you
sit and laugh,
sit and listen,
succeed to smile,
and heal a frown.
you
laugh,
instead of cry,
you help,
instead of lie.
you
listen to,
my troubles,
and help me through,
now i wish,
to help you.
i
always remember,
the way you,
burst into song,
and heal the frowns,
even when life,
gets so dark,
you still hold on.
so
when you read this poem,
i wish for you to smile,
grin and laugh,
and when you return,
we can have that coffee in
norwich!
so keep on fighting little
one,
cause everyone's waiting!
My
Magic World
my
magic world,
it sparkles bright,
my magic world,
a phenomenal sight,
my magic world,
love fill the streets,
my magic world,
that no evil meets,
my magic world,
a dream of tears,
my magic world,
i watch while it
disappears.
