I was born January 28th
1940 and lived in Stamford
Bridge, East Yorkshire
where I attended the local
primary school. I then
went to a girls’ grammar
school in York followed by
teaching training college
in Bradford.
I married in 1960 and
led a fairly nomadic life
before coming to Somerset
in 1976. I live with
Keith, my husband and
great supporter, in
Cossington near Bridgwater
and have no desire to
leave the West Country. I
have two sons, a daughter
and two grandsons.
As a child I inherited
a love of wordplay from my
grandfather but did not
begin to write poetry
until 1999 when I joined
the Bridgwater U3A Poetry
Group. Most poems are
written ‘to order’ on
the homework topic set at
our fortnightly meeting,
though I do become
inspired on occasion to
write on other subjects. I
work mainly in rhyme and
metre with the odd foray
into free verse.
