Return
Your
clock
still on the
locked.
Your clothes
in their place.
And I?
I long to hear
your voice.
See your face.

Superstition
Don't whistle
my Nana would
say.
Our Lady
will cover her
face
with her cloak.
Just like she
disliked
telling me the
story
of Red Riding
Hood.
Bad luck for her
when those words
she spoke.
But for me
her superstition
she time after
time broke.

Child
at Play
Pink tea set
bought for me
by Uncle Jim.
The blue by Mum.
Through pretend
play
fear shone.
The sound of the
wind.
His key
in the lock.

Comforter
Who will comfort
me?
I turn a poetry
page.
The clown

Detach
Him.
Me.
Each end of
the settee.
Each thinking
no-one would
want
the other.
What will it be,
coffee,
friend,
lover,
dear friend of
my brother.

Moon
Dreams
Clouds chasing
dancing
moon-beams.
Call out to play
your dreams.
To dance with
stars
that glitter and
shine.
Saddest of all,
they can never
be mine.
