Jackie Johnson

Winner of our Top 5 Poets of September 2004 Online Competition

I am 56 years old and started writing poetry in 1995. I saw a poetry competition advertised and thought 'I can do that!'. So I did. I didn't win but got published and that started an erratic stream of poems.

Angela Cheyne

I first decided at the age of thirteen that I wanted to be a poet. The former ‘Mermaid Cafe’ at Porth near Newquay in Cornwall, was the fount that saw the engendering, at seventeen of my first writings.

Even as a child I adored poetry. My very first poetry book was 'A Child's Garden of Verse' by R L Stevenson. The words seemed to dance inside my heart and soul.

Catherine A Keohane

Catherine A Keohane

I was born 22nd April 1964 in Merthyr Tydfil and attended Bishop Hedley High School where, during an English comprehension exercise I wrote my first poem at the age of 14.

Christina Earl

Winner of our Top 5 Poets of August 2004 Online Competition

I've lived in Suffolk all my life. I'm 18 years old and have been writing poems for many years. Writing poems is like an escape. I just put pen to paper and I let the ink make its mark. In poems it feels like it's easier to make myself heard.

Gaylen Fay Walker

Winner of our Top 5 Poets of June 2004 Online Competition

II live in the mist of the everlasting mountains near Salt Lake City, Utah. I am a world traveler thanks to the U. S. Navy and the Utah Air National Guard. I met my wife, Nannette, while serving on the USS Los Alamos at the American submarine base in Holy Loch Scotland.

Ricky Lock

Ricky Lock

I am 43 years of age and live in Old Bexley village, Kent. I am a Psychosynthesis counsellor and a registered healer. I love to work with people and help them to open up to more of themselves. I have always been interested in poetry especially the war poets, Owen, Sassoon and Brooks.

Susan Andrews

Susan Andrews

Winner of our Top 5 Poets of March 2004 Online Competition

I have only been writing poetry for 18 months, this coincided with the birth of my beautiful baby girl, and studying ‘A’ level English Lit, where I was introduced to Sylvia Plath and Four Women Poets, the two combined helped me to re-discover my inner emotions...

Robert Chapman

Robert Chapman

A Featured Poet from Poetry Now Magazine

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Robert Chapman and I have been writing poetry for thirty-five years. I first took an interest in poetry around 1967 when, at school, some of us were invited by a teacher to try our hand at writing limericks.

John Robinson

Winner of our Top 5 Poets of February 2004 Online Competition

I live in deepest Northumberland where I've spent most of my life as it's the best place on earth! I'm divorced and live with my two children who are still at school and are the best things in my life. My ambition is to live on Holy Island and to write meaningless literature for the rest of my life!

Tony Bush

Winner of our Top 5 Poets of January 2004 Online Competition

I am 42 years of age and work as a qualified psychiatric nurse in South Wales. Married with two children, a cat, a dog and five chickens, I live on the side of a mountain overlooking the village of Crickhowell in Powys. I have been a prolific writer of poetry for more years than I care to remember…
