of our Top 5 Poets of September 2004 Online
Competition
I
am 56 years old and started writing
poetry in 1995. I saw a poetry
competition advertised and thought 'I
can do that!'. So I did. I didn't
win but got published and that
started an erratic stream of poems.

Even as a child I adored poetry. My very first poetry book was
'A Child's Garden of Verse' by R L

Winner
of our Top 5 Poets of August 2004 Online
Competition
I've
lived in Suffolk all my
life. I'm 18 years old and
have been writing poems
for many years. Writing
poems is like an escape. I
just put pen to paper and
I let the ink make its
mark. In poems it feels
like it's easier to make
myself heard.

I have
only been writing poetry
for 18 months, this
coincided with the birth
of my beautiful baby girl,
and studying ‘A’ level
English Lit, where I was
introduced to Sylvia Plath
and Four Women Poets, the
two combined helped me to
re-discover my inner
emotions...

I live in deepest Northumberland where I've spent most of my life as it's the best place on earth! I'm divorced and live with my two children who are still at school and are the best things in my life. My ambition is to live on Holy Island and to write meaningless literature for the rest of my life!
