The Author

Elsie Bell was born in Manchester and at one time organised a playgroup in Cheshire. She now lives in the Lake District and has four children and eight grandchildren. She is a member of a Lancaster University Writers Group. Her hobbies include walking, sailing, swimming, and involvement with the Brownies and Guides in Hawkshead through membership of the Trefoil Guild.

The Illustrator

Ray Schofield studied at Lancaster College of Art, and obtained a degree at Leeds School of Art before teaching in Whitehaven, Cumbria. He lives and works now in the Old School House at Overton on the Lune Estuary, and has five children and two grandchildren. His work includes painting and sculpting wildlife in the Lake District, and illustrating calendars and children's books.
